Sweet vibes check. This sauce is delicious. Tastes great on ice cream, waffles, French toast cakes and cupcakes.

SERVINGS

Will make approximately a cup. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup of butterscotch schnapps (yes, from the liquor store) 
  • 2 tsp real vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt (or 1/4 tsp table salt)

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

You will need a pan with a lid. Add the butter and brown sugar to an uncovered pan and heat on medium low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir frequently.

STEP 2

Whisk in the heavy cream, butterscotch schnapps, and cook over medium low heat for 10 minutes. Whisk occasionally. The sauce should bubble up and start to thicken.

STEP 3

Remove from heat and add the vanilla and salt. Let it cool for about 20 minutes and add to a mason jar with a lid. It will thicken up over time. Give it a nice stir when ready to use. No need to refrigerate.
